Practical 3 Measuring cell in micrographs using Logger Pro


Description:  Use Logger Pro "Data Analysis" tools to measure cells in micrographs

Criteria: none (introductory, method-training, formative practical)

Length:  1/3 hour

Date:  August 31-Sep 1, 2010)

 



Objective:

Students collect micrographs from internet (any photo with a scale in it) and use Vernier Logger Pro to measure objects in photos given photos scale

 

Material:

Logger Pro installed on computer

Internet connection (to download photos)

 

Method:

1.  see demonstration videocast on "How to Measure Cells in micrographs using Logger Pro"

2.  Students collect at least one original (not used as demo in class) micrograph from the internet showing prokaryote or virus

3.  Student measure several dimension in photo

4.  Take screen shot and submit to Mr. Reimer as file named:  Prac3_photoanaylsis_studentname as email attachment.
